Detekt #Herkansing

The Open World has not only taught us that we’re being watched by the government, is also has learned us to defend ourselves against it. There are a lot of online platforms but also social media pages like ‘Government Watch’, that gives us information about what is really going behind closed doors. Luckily now, there have been some technological innovations as well when it comes to defending yourself against the government.

#Whatisit

Detekt is a service that is explicit created for us citizens. Detekt was developed by Germany-based security researcher Claudio Guarnieri after discussions with human rights activists. The main of the initiative is to raise awareness. The use of spyware by governments and intelligence agencies is growing worldwide as a response to the increasing adoption of encryption in popular services and communication protocols. The name of the application says it all: it detects if there is any ware spyware (by the government)  on your computer or mobile phone.

step1
Detekt does not remove any infection or delete any file that it considers suspicious. If Detekt indicates signs of infection, you should assume that your computer has been compromised and is no longer safe for use. The hacker will likely have remote-control access of your computer, this means they can view not only your files and emails but everything you type on your keyboard and could even switch on your webcam and microphone remotely.

step2.1

# Whyisitcool

Detekt is another smart innitiave that is created for the wellbeing of us citizens. It doesn’t remove any spyware, but it does warns you that you’re in simple words: being watched. I think this service definitely has a future growth potential because there are many people who are distrusting of the government. With this program they get a sense of safety and relief back.

Slaving Away #Herkansing

Due to Wikileaks and Edward Snowman people nowadays are not so believing in the government anymore. Because of numerous documentaires that show for example how food and animals really get processed, the suspicion of people not only against the government but to multi million food cooperations as well, get’s increased everyday.

#Whatisit

A good example of absolute transparency is the new documentaire Slaving Away.
In this documentaire the dirty secrets behind Australia’s fresh food gets revealed.
When you open your fridge, the fresh food that you eat you automatically take for granted. You don’t actually know how this fruit has been produced. The truth is: much of it is picked and packed by a hidden army of migrant workers who are ruthlessly exploited..
They’re subjected to brutal working hours, degrading living conditions and the massive underpayment of wages.

This documentaire shakes up the world. A great thing of the open world is that it wakes people up. This documentaire get’s people to thinking. I think that it is a really good thing that people go figure where their food actually comes from. And maybe because of that, they sooner go to their local farmer market than to their super market. Maybe because of this documentair they don’t want blood on their hands and decide to look deeper into the issue. I definitely think it is a good thing that the Australian population knows what is going on. And that because of this documentaire more people are waking up.

Get it cookin’ ! #Herkansing

Since centuries food has been a way of bringing people together. For political, social and also business reasons. Back in the day (and still) getting an invitation to eat at your bosses house, and get served dinner, was and still is quite a thing. But having dinner at a friend’s house is of course the best way to socialize and making memories as well. Nowadays people are so busy that they’d rather go out and eat than organizing a dinner party. But there are still a lot people in the world who still have the need to organize these dinner party’s. How do we solve this problem?

#Whatisit

Let me introduce to you: Cookening. This a new online community for people who love preparing food to people and sharing their food as well. It’s created for those  whose happiness is fed by bonding with different and new people, with overlapping interests.

If you want to get involved in this amazing social community, you’ll have to create an online profile on the Cookening website. On the website you can fill in if you want to be a host or a guest for potential online-arranged dinner parties.

If you would choose to play an entertaining chef, you publish your own home table on the website, including photos and descriptions of the dishes you want to serve. Potential guests can browse on the site for these home-events based on cuisine and a listed price per person.

#Whyisitcool

This cool concept is a clever online platform that brings through virtual connections people together in real life. Like I said before, food has always been a way of bringing people together. Cookening does the same thing for people, only in a different way than back in the day. Great concepts like this encourage people via the virtual world to eat and socialize together in the ‘offline’ world. With Cookening you get great food, and good company!

There are a lot of people in the world who struggle to feed their kids everyday. Although the food industry has created cheap and tasteless food that doesn’t mean that it is healthy and nutritious. Nowadays there are so many great initiatives that help reducing food waste.
The Casserole Club is a great example of reducing food waste and connecting people at the same time.

#Whatisit

The Casserole Club is a service where you can register as a community cook. This means that on this platform you can start sharing your meals with people in your neighborhood. The Casserole Club ensures safety and quality of the meals. The service has its members go through a safeguarding progress. When you actually want to arrange a meal, the Casserole Club lets the cooks the dinner they want to serve and make an online introduction. From there you can online connect with your personal cook and make arrangements for the meal to be delivered.

#Whyisitcool

The Casserole Club is a great initiative that not only helps feed the people who are in most need, but most importantly: it helps connecting people again. Due to individualization people are so busy with themselves, that an actual community where people socialize and visit each other, barely even exists anymore. However, this service shows that there are still so many people in the world who are willing to give purely out of the good of their hearts. I think this initiative has a great future growth potential. The service is a great way to connect people and to foster sharing in a local community again.

Fast food no more, get your food from CORE! #Herkansing

When you think of fast food, you probably think of greasy fries and burgers. Healthy and biological food has become a huge trend, so much even that when you see someone eat an actual greasy burger with fries on the side, they instantly get dismissive looks from people who are walking by.  Luckily for these fast-food lovers who don’t want those dismissive looks all the time, there has a great initiative been made: healthy fast food!

At Oakland’s CORE Kitchen you won’t find greasy fast-food, but actual fresh produced collard leaf wraps, vegetable- based noodles and many more! All meals here are prepared without any sweeteners, additives, oils or powders.

Hitch me up! #Herkansing

Deaths from air pollution globally are rising. The Global Burden of Disease study from the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington in Seattle found that there were 3,4 million deaths from outdoor pollution in 2010, which was an increase from three million in 1990. Adding in the effects of indoor pollution, mostly from cooking fires in the developing world, brings the global death toll to seven million a year according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Luckily, there are many technological innovations today that help make the world more sustainable and less polluted these days.

ridesharing-service-2

#Whatisit

A company called HitchPlanet has developed a new concept that offers a ridesharing service that combines carpooling and hitchhiking. Carpooling has the benefits from an economical and environmental perspective, but it is not always easy to find someone who is going in the same direction as you are. With hitchhiking many people are apprehensive to let strange people travel along with them. HithPlanet aims to make both of these ridesharing types more safes and also easier to participate in.

This is how it works: if you headed on a trip somewhere soon, you can post the number of extra seats you have available on Hitchplanet. The service is free to drivers, and the passengers that will travel along with you will pay a small fee to cover the gas costs of going along for a ride.

# Whyisitcool

This concept is cool because it is sustainable and it brings people together at the same time. People who work in the city can easily drive alone with someone who works in the city as well. This way you get a lot less cars, and a lot less pollution. The cities will get more sustainable and a lot less crowded as well. The concept is environmental and economical sustainable. Because of this platform people will know that it’s safe and will be more easy to carpool and hitchhike with strangers than normally.

Less taxi’s, more e-bikes! #Herkansing

With so many technological innovations lately, like electric vehicles such as cars, anyone should be able to afford one of these innovations. The increase of electric vehicles from 7.410 electrical vehicles in 2012 to 52.085 in 2015 really confirms that a lot of people are willing to go green.

As I was saying, not everyone is able to afford an electric car. And when you look at big and crowded countries like Japan and China there isn’t any space for everyone to drive an electric car. In New York big yellow taxi’s are filling up the streets as well. If only there was a solution to make the city more sustainable and less crowded..

#Whatisit

In Japan researchers from Bellnix Co Ltd and Saitama University invented recharging electric bikes. These bikes can be powered up wireless at docking stations that are unmanned. This sustainable transportation uses wireless power transmission technology in conjunction with a receiver coil attached to the front wheel’s side of the bike. In this way the electric bike doesn’t need a detachable battery pack. When the bike is fully charged you can use it for 55 km. The recharging of the bike takes 5,5 hours to reach a full charge.

#Whyisitcool

This electric bike could help popularize e-bikes in North America and Europa. This sustainable project could help built big cities like New York, Shanghai and other world capitals more sustainable. The technology could enable widespread rental bicycles for tourists and make maintenance more efficient in Japan and China. There would be a lot less pollution if people would take the e-bikes instead of a taxi. The tourist would get anywhere in the city and they wouldn’t have to put any energy into it. With docking stations all over the city, the e-bike could be recharged anywhere. 275069_1_800

I really think this e-bike would help big crowded cities more sustainable and would definitely make the roads in the city less crowded. I’d say: Less taxi’s, more e-bikes!

Sustainable food trucks #Herkansing

In the last few years, it seems that food trucks have taken over the food scene in many cities and festivals as well. These trucks provide a quick and delicious bite to eat on your way to work or when you’re just wandering the streets of the city. Unfortunately this innovative style of dining has caused (due to exhaust) more outdoor air pollution.

#Whatisit

New York City and MOVE Systems have launched the ‘MRV100’ food truck.
The revolutionary mobile food trucks come with solar panel, rechargeable battery banks, low emission fuel systems and advanced hybrid generators. Because of this genius eco-friendly design, the trucks could help to reduce green house gas emissions by up to 60 percent while reducing nitrogen oxide pollution by a outrageous 95 percent!

#Whyisitcool

These food trucks are designed to help reduce green house admissions. New York is set to launch a pilot program that will set 500 of these sustainable food trucks hit the streets this summer. With this concept you’ll get more lovely water teething bites on sustainable terms, and less outdoor pollution. This concept will be flying high because of its delicious food dishes and because of it’s eco-friendly goals.

The food-carts are entirely funded by donations and private partnerships. The trucks will be supplied free of cost to the first 500 vendors who sign up for this amazing initiative. With this smart marketing more, I’ll bet this summer you’ll see hundreds of these carts filling up the streets!
